To ensure that your SmoothWall system is kept up to date with the latest security patches, Feature Packs and subscriptions (Guardian blocklist, anti-virus and anti-spam subscriptions); all licenses and subscriptions must be renewed on an annual basis (Annual Renewal).
The Annual Renewal (AR) provides customers with a series of Feature Packs which contain both new features and enhancements to existing features. Like security patches, these packs are automatically downloaded and applied via the web interface and do not require software reinstallation.
The initial license price of all SmoothWall 2008 products includes the supply of its Feature Packs and all applicable subscriptions for the following 12 months. After this first 12 months, Annual Renewals must be purchased for each SmoothWall product used, including the primary system (Network Guardian, Advanced Firewall, Corporate Firewall, School Guardian or UTM appliance) and all installed modules and subscriptions.
